Working with Spirasi
Karen O’Connor [IADT] and Aoife Casey [NCAD]
Title: ‘Projection Photography Possibilities’
The photographs included in this exhibition are a small selection of the work done in the photography class.
The students used creative techniques such as shadows and silhouettes. Using shadow creates a sense of suspense and mystery to the work. Students also used projections onto different materials which enable us to view the picture in a new way. The students allowed their imagination to take flight on our trip to Dun Laoghaire – some were even lucky enough to get inside the lighthouse!
Breaking the boundaries of traditional photography the students experimented with photomontage, which is a way of re-constructing images to form a new idea.
The collection of work on display is a credit to the students’ imaginative and artistic effort.
