Working with Robert Emmett Youth Group
Katherine Sheehan [TISCH] and Janet Williams [IADT]
Title: ‘A Celebration of Imagination’
No matter where children are or what is happening around them, they can always rely on their imagination. We found the group of children we worked with had it by the bucket full, so we decided to work with their spontaneous and improvised nature. Through drawing, improvised drama and automatic story telling we fully delved into the imaginary world of the child and gave them a frame work in which to channel their creativity into creating art.
We wanted to use their innate talent for thinking outside of boundaries to create a piece of work that celebrated the limitless possibilities the world can hold if one only looks at it from the right perspective.
The result was a collection of drawings, stories and footage of kids being kids.
